Donut Table Lamp – rounded glass shade, Bauhaus style, orange or white

A lamp that looks like a piece of glazed pottery until you switch it on.

Most bedside lamps are a shade on a stick, and they tower over a low cabinet or a crowded shelf. This one sits flat and wide, a rounded ring of glass with a hollow at its centre, so it fills a sideboard or nightstand without blocking the view. Lit, the whole body glows evenly rather than throwing a hard pool of light, which suits the last hour of the evening. In daylight it reads as a sculptural object in glossy orange or milky white.

What the ring shape brings to a room

• Low profile: sits comfortably under wall shelves and in front of mirrors or artwork.
• Glowing glass body: light spreads through the whole shade, giving a soft, even ambience.
• Bauhaus lines: a simple geometric form that suits mid-century, Scandinavian and modern rooms alike.
• Two finishes: warm orange as a colour accent, or white that blends into pale interiors.
• Easy set-up: place it, plug it in and it is ready, with nothing to assemble.
